Buyer Evaluations
Let's begin off by saying that this is the initial outdoor RC helicopter I've owned. Even so I have a modest fleet of indoor RC's, including 3 S107G's which is what the S031G is modeled after. The gyro is incredible, as is the super straightforward trim dial. In spite of the reality that I broke the upper blade grip the initial time out (hit the only metal light pole in 1000ft radius), I'd say this is a Rather durable little machine. The primary rotor blades are powerful -- also robust. My nearby hobby guy had the element in stock. But, while examining it he noticed that I have the old style battery rather than the new LiPo battery which explains the 75 - 90 min. charging time. The new LiPo is one of the improvements supposedly made to the "G" model. At least I nonetheless get an honest ten-15 minutes per charge. Speaking of "power" the S031G is exceptionally underpowered by design, when facing even the slightest headwind. It is got OK lift, but the horizontal tail rotor blade is as well little or requirements to be completely redesigned. I'm NOT talking about gusty 10-15 mph winds, thoughts you, I'm talking about breezes, possibly 5-7 mph. Lift is superior but I found that hand launching greatly elevated my flying time. Once in the air using the energy to move against slight headwinds will get you into difficulty if you don't have sufficient practice. The S031G likes to fly high -- and it will if you aren't cautious. I try not to exceed 20ft mainly because of the forward thrust issue. Nonetheless, I've gotten it effectively more than 150ft when I realized I might be in trouble and panicked, cut the energy as well considerably, and nevertheless landed suitable on the skids. I would actually like to see a redesigned version of this model that provides adequate forward thrust for general flying conditions. I feel the S031G is a helicopter with a lot of possible, but falls short mainly because of it's inability to fly adequately in most useable situations. I'd sure adore to fly it in a big empty warehouse!
Quite strong piece of flying equipment. The gyro technique is leading-notch and only requires Extremely minor trimming out of the box! Maiden flight was in a smaller kitchen place and stuck the landing completely! This model is the absolute, by far, the perfect I've put to use for beginner / advanced-newbie coaching. With such stable flight, you can certainly place the craft via the paces and focus much less on over- / under-controlling the flight path. Pros: stabilized elevation stick, durable heli body with forgiving rotors, effortless to set up and get started flying, very responsive to all stick movements, Pretty inexpensive replacement parts are obtainable, and can move quite quickly when placed in the tail rotor 'boost' mode. Cons: wish it had the 4th channel for even additional advanced instruction just short of moving to single-rotor equipment. Overall - couldn't be happier!
